A game of chance and tactics for 2–3 or 4 players.
Players try to play all their tiles by matching one of the two numbers shown on each tile. The first player to play all their tiles wins.
Dominoes is a highly engaging and exciting game that doesn’t require a large number of players. You can even play as a pair with your son or daughter without losing any of its appeal.
Before you start, turn all the tiles face down and shuffle them well. Then each player randomly takes 7 domino tiles and places them in front of them. The player with the 6–6 tile goes first. If nobody has it, the player with the 5–5, 4–4, and so on goes first. In rare cases, neither player may have a double tile. In that case, the player with the tile that has the highest total number of points goes first.
The next player adds one of their tiles, if they have a match, by matching the same number shown on an open end of the row. If they don’t have a matching tile, they draw one from the pile. If it matches, they play it; otherwise, they keep it.
The winner is the first player to get rid of all their tiles. The other players are charged the points shown on their tiles. The first player to accumulate more than 100 points loses.
A game of dominoes often ends early when a situation known as a “block” occurs on the playing surface. In this case, neither player can make a move, even though they have already used the draw pile. The players count their points. The player with the lower total scores no points, while the other player is awarded the difference between the winner’s and loser’s points.
