The Peter Stuyvesant hyacinth produces fragrant, deep violet-blue flowers and blooms in spring. It can be planted in flower beds or pots, in a sunny spot or partial shade, and paired with early to mid-early varieties of daffodils and tulips.
Plant the bulbs at a depth and spacing of 15 cm. They need 8–10 weeks in a dark place at a temperature of up to 12 °C to grow. When the leaves dry out in summer, lift the bulbs and store them in a dark, cool place until planting.
