Strategy board game for 2 players.
Each player starts with 9 pieces and the game is played in two stages. First, players take turns placing their pieces on any of the 24 corners, trying to form a "tris" (three pieces in a row). After all pieces have been placed, each player takes turns moving their pieces in order to form a "tris", or if that is not possible, to set one up while also blocking their opponent from making one.
The pieces move along the lines (vertically and horizontally, not diagonally). Whoever forms a "tris" takes one piece from their opponent, making sure it is not part of an already formed "tris". The winner is the one who leaves their opponent with fewer than three pieces or blocks them so that they cannot move.
Nine Men's Morris is one of the oldest games in the world. A board for such a game was found in the ruins of Troy. From Greece, through trading journeys, the game spread to Western Europe.
