A game of chance and strategy for 2 to 6 players.

Players try to play all their tiles by matching one of the two numbers shown on each tile. The first player to play all their tiles wins.

Dominoes are a wonderfully engaging and exciting pastime that doesn’t require a large number of players. You can even play as a pair, with your son or daughter, without losing any of the game’s appeal.

Before you begin, turn all the tiles face down and shuffle them well. Each player then randomly draws 7 domino tiles and places them in front of them. The player who drew the 9-9 tile goes first. If no one has it, the player with the 8-8 double goes first, then 7-7, and so on. In rare cases, neither player may have a double tile. In that case, the player with the tile with the highest total number of points can play it and take the first turn.

The next player adds one of their tiles, if they have a matching one, to a tile already in play by matching the same number. If they don’t have a matching tile, they must draw a domino from the pile. If it matches, they play it; otherwise, they keep it.

The winner is the first player to get rid of all their tiles, while the other players are charged the points shown on their tiles. At the end, the first player to accumulate more than 100 points loses.

A game of dominoes often ends a little earlier when a situation known as a “block” occurs on the board. In this case, neither player can make a move, even though they have already used the “draw pile.” The players then count their points. The player with the lowest total scores nothing, while the other player is awarded the difference between the winner’s and loser’s points.
