Hesiod was the first to speak about the five human races: from the golden, full of happiness and harmony with the gods, to the iron, to which we belong. It is the race of toil, alienation, and forgetfulness; an era that exhausts man physically and morally, as values decline and justice loses its voice.
The protagonists of this novel are definitely of the iron race, but their actions, set within the context of events documented in the dawn of written sources of history, leave no doubt that they evoke some of the glory of the previous human race.
