The preparation process includes:

  • Withering the leaves over a fire made from pine and cypress branches and trunks.
  • Frying and rolling the leaves, which are then pressed into wooden barrels for fermentation/oxidation.
  • A second frying and rolling to achieve a thin and straight shape.
  • Drying in bamboo baskets over pine branches to absorb the smoky aroma.

The result of the process is thin, shiny, and black tea leaves.
