Humankind discovered Malifaux when the Giga Rift opened in Santa Fae, New Mexico. They entered a desert landscape... but within, treasures awaited. Constructions, relics, and tomes of magic quickly transformed humanity and Earth forever. Mages delved into necromancy, driven mad by whispers urging them to push the boundaries of death magic. Earth's fading magic was boosted by souls: beautiful gemstones mined from deep tunnels, each capable of storing incredible amounts of energy. Industry flourished. Then, everything collapsed.
Malifaux is a skirmish miniature game set in a horror/steampunk universe. Each player creates a force of 5-7 figures from a faction to compete. A force consists of henchmen and at least one master. Malifaux incorporates resource management elements as cards are used instead of dice to resolve ability checks. Each check involves drawing a card from a deck and adding it to a figure's stats. Players can then play cards from their hand to increase the value. The highest value in an opposing check wins. The turn system is built-in, with each player alternately activating models.
Malifaux miniatures are 32mm 'heroic' scale figures made of high-quality plastic.
The miniatures come unpainted. Preparation and assembly are required.
