The Greeks are among the peoples of the planet who established their political independence through revolution. Initially fewer in number, but soon the majority, Greek women and men, relying on their own strength, overthrew Ottoman rule in their historic places, while simultaneously building their political freedom and independence.

Based on extensive archival research, this book analyzes the historical dynamics leading to the Revolution, the revolutionary war and its political significance, the establishment of political freedom, equality, and people's sovereignty, the ideological components of the Struggle, the social composition of the leadership and the fighters, the strategy followed by the Greek leaders towards the European powers, and, conversely, the systematic response of the Ottoman state and the Greek reactions.
