A writer living in an authoritarian state is interrogated about the gruesome content of his stories and their similarities to a series of unsolved child murders occurring in the city. The world of imagination becomes entangled with reality.

It received the Olivier Award in 2004 for Best New Play, the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best New Foreign Play, and two Tony Awards for Production. It was also nominated for the 2004 Evening Standard Award for Best New Play.
