Choice of Materials & Grand Performance Acoustic Geometry

The Martin GP-X2E Ziricote Special is based on the Grand Performance Cutaway body shape, which combines a wide lower bout with a deeper waist than traditional dreadnoughts. This configuration ensures balanced frequency response, delivering clear treble definition and a controlled bass response. The solid Sitka spruce top offers a high stiffness-to-mass ratio, ensuring a quick attack, natural dynamic response, and broad tonal headroom. The back and sides are made from Ziricote Pattern HPL (High-Pressure Laminate), a composite material that provides structural rigidity and resistance to sudden environmental changes without compromising acoustic stability.

Brace Architecture & Mortise and Tenon Joint Construction

Inside the instrument, a bracing system features hand-scalloped 5/16" (7.94 mm) Sitka spruce Scalloped X-Bracing. Scalloping removes mass from areas that are not subject to critical mechanical stress, allowing the solid top to vibrate with greater amplitude around the bridge. This design enhances acoustic projection and prolongs note sustain (sustain). The neck joins the body at the 14th fret with a Mortise & Tenon Neck Joint, ensuring a rigid connection and continuous transfer of mechanical vibrations throughout the soundbox.

Fishman MX Electronic Preamp System

Electro-acoustic performance is powered by the Fishman MX system, designed specifically to faithfully reproduce the natural tone without metallic coloration. The piezoelectric sensor is positioned beneath the Tusq saddle, directly capturing the vibrations of the strings and the soundboard. The preamp features discreet rotary volume (Volume) and tone (Tone) controls fitted to the inner edge of the soundhole, preserving the wooden body without external cutouts in the guitar’s sides.

Performing Artist Neck Ergonomics & Accessories

The neck is crafted from select hardwood and features the ergonomic Performing Artist profile combined with the tapered High-Performance Taper design. This profile maintains a consistent thickness from the 1-3/4" (44.5 mm) nut width to 2-1/8" (54 mm) at the 12th fret, allowing the hand to move smoothly along the entire 25.4" (645 mm) scale. The white Corian nut and compensated Tusq saddle ensure accurate intonation and clear string separation, while the chrome-plated Chrome Enclosed Gear tuners provide smooth adjustment and stable tuning.
