Freire (2011) writes: I need a critical understanding of the ways in which society functions, in order to understand how the education I participate in operates, both in a global context and within a classroom setting. Educational change is already here. It influences and is influenced by contemporary society. Conceptual redefinitions of pedagogical terms, the shift of the pedagogical core of education, discussions around the autonomy of educational sciences, trends related to improvement, effectiveness, and quality of education, sustainable development, and society's new expectations of educators create a new scene of multi-level challenges. This publication is addressed to educators, students of pedagogical departments, policymakers, and educational leadership. It is a multi-level, pedagogical approach to Educational Change that, by emphasizing the inseparability of the links between the institutional, managerial, and functional levels of system organization, highlights the importance of the active human resource in education and all that define it.
