Description

In a basement in Nea Ionia, an apparently innocent men's party with whiskey, fights, "manly" jokes, and folk songs turns into a dangerous game of courage and truth. Johnny Blue is a work about a father, his two close friends, his ex-wife, and a young man.

"Above all, it is a work about a girl – another girl! – who found herself in the difficult position of being a girl. Around these characters, a story of revenge unfolds – but also a dark portrait of modern “masculinity”. A story that exposes the boundaries of misogyny across different generations, characters, and social classes.

"Johnny Blue is a fine whiskey. A whiskey for a special occasion, we might say. For a celebration where loved ones meet, embrace, and look each other in the eyes. Looking deeply into our children’s eyes, there, in those eyes that expect the best from us, the core of the work is born. In this gaze, the gaze of our daughter, who expects us to defeat and eliminate the “bad guys”. Our bad self. The evil within us. Our children ask us to protect them from anyone who might harm them. Even if that person is ourselves and our flawed beliefs. Protecting this unconditional faith that flickers like a flame in their eyes... let it become our new sacred mission,” says the author in his introductory note.
