Description

Decades have passed since I first started teaching in Serifos and delivered the "commemorative" speech of the day at a humble chapel on the island in front of the few students, pupils, and colleagues. Since then, the years have flown by. My educational journey has seen many milestones. After Serifos, I taught in Syros, Chalandri, Tinos, Waiblingen, Nuremberg, the complex of islands in the Northern Aegean, Western Macedonia, Pella, Vrilisia, Agia Paraskevi, Ampelokipoi, and finally Amorgos. The day of the Three Hierarchs has always been a special occasion throughout this journey.

The present book contains in its first part the main points from the "commemorative" speeches over these years, and it was deemed unnecessary to alter their orality retrospectively. Therefore, it is not a scholarly work. It is rather an Orthodox perspective against the prevailing trend of the times, which promotes a harmless, fatalistic, and comfortable (yet dangerous) Christianity for many. This edition includes some of our older publications, as well as newer, unpublished texts.

The sole ambition of this publication is to contribute to the highlighting of the work and contributions of the Three Hierarchs to Theology, Science, and Society.
