Description

First published in Athens in 1897 by the philologist-writer Ioannis Th. Roussis, founder of the publishing house, initially under the name "The Union of Greek Teachers".

For the digitization, the 40th edition from the 1970s of our house under the name "Nikolaos & Sophoklis I. Roussis OE" was used, which is based on the 5th edition of 1921 under the name "Publishing House of Ioannis Th. Roussis".

Ioannis Th. Roussis was born in 1873 in Souli. He wrote, translated, and published over 63 works and was the one who developed the methodology for learning Ancient Greek by creating school aids.

He founded the publishing house with the famous Dictionary of Irregular Verbs, which, according to the most modest estimates, has sold around 1,000,000 copies.

He became a professor at Arsakeio and Varvakios, principal and head of school in Patras and Syros, and was awarded a Doctorate from the Faculty of Philosophy at EKPA.

For his contribution to education, he was honored by the state with the Silver Cross of the Knights.
