The board game named Deep Regrets is a spine-chilling fishing game that focuses on judging what to pull up from the ocean. Players must decide what to eat, what to sell, what to keep, and how much regret they are willing to carry, as they make strategic moves that lead to unpredictable outcomes.
Each round begins with the roll of special dice, which determine the player's strength for that round. Then, a decision must be made whether to remain at sea or return to the port to sell fish, purchase supplies, and restore their energy.
Players will observe shadows from 9 different fish schools at three depths, determining which fish are possible to catch and whether to risk it for better rewards.
Turning over fish, spending dice, and adding them to a collection are central elements of the game, but players must pay attention to discovery and capture abilities, which can affect the flow of the game. As players discover increasingly terrifying objects, they will collect Regret cards, which increase paranoia but also offer access to more abilities.
