Model Figures
The F-14 Tomcat was designed as the main fighter of the U.S. Navy, capable of performing air superiority, escort, and strike missions. It was one of the most advanced and technologically sophisticated aircraft ever to serve on an aircraft carrier.
The prototype aircraft took its maiden flight on December 21, 1970, and the first planes were delivered to the U.S. Navy four years later. The last Tomcat aircraft were retired in 2006.
The most innovative and distinctive feature of the F-14 is its variable-geometry wings. These wings, controlled by a computer or manually by the pilot, can change the angle of attack from 20 degrees at minimum speed to 60 degrees at supersonic speeds. The changing wing geometry allows for optimal positioning during tight maneuvers, ensuring maximum aircraft performance.
