Description

Photon Life PH31 daily use projector by Optoma, with Full HD (1080p) resolution and an image diagonal ranging from 60 - 150". The specific diagonal depends on the placement distance of the projector relative to the projection surface.

The projection technology is DLP, with an LED-type lamp, which offers longer lifespan but lower brightness than conventional lamps while maintaining good color performance. DLP stands for Digital Light Processing and is the most widespread projection technology. The image is created when the lamp's light passes through a rotating color wheel and reflects off a chip with hundreds of thousands of tiny mirrors, known as DMD (Digital Micromirror Device).

Suitable for well-lit spaces such as classrooms or meeting rooms, and offers good color performance. It features a brightness of 1500 Lumens and a contrast ratio of 400:1, indicating the difference between the darkest and the brightest parts of an image. High contrast allows for more realistic depiction and greater depth.

Coming from Chinese projectors, I have to say that there is no comparison at all, and let me explain. If what you are looking for is image quality and not the smart conveniences and features that most Chinese projectors have, there is no comparison in the image—it’s like night and day. Just to mention, I have had Blitzwolf, Wanbo, Ultimea, Paris Rhone, Byintek, Magcubic models ranging from 150 euros and up to 350 pass through my living room. Honestly, the image leaves you speechless without even adjusting anything, the clarity is on another level, the text is clear in all corners. The brightness is on another level without even touching the brightness setting, and without that ugly sun glare effect you get when increasing brightness on the Chinese ones. It has no digital adjustments at all, which is why the image is crystal clear; you adjust the zoom (10%) and focus from the two rings and both are perfectly clear no matter how far you set them. Compared to the TCL 65C645 QLED, I dare say it has better blacks. It has vertical & horizontal keystone 30% if needed. I should mention that compared to the Chinese ones, there is no comparison in how this one projects; while I used to project with the Chinese ones from a height of about 1.20m to get an image at 90cm (bottom of the image on the wall), this one has a native offset of 105%, which means it should be set up at about 80-83cm.
To give you an idea, I project from 4 meters for about 110 inches; at this distance, it can go up to 120 inches. It can be used for viewing day and night without any problem, not just in complete darkness (I imagine even better on a screen, I project on a wall), it is completely silent (under 30db); all the previous ones I had sounded like trucks. Sealed optical engine (sealed optics IP5X), very important for the projector’s longevity. No lamp changes and 30,000 hours, which means 4-5 hours a day for 20 years. I use it with a Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd gen and it accepts 4k/30hz signal, and HDR support, so you can watch everything smoothly, especially the well-known video tests on YouTube 4k/8k, etc. The fidelity in color detail and facial detail leaves you speechless.
Overall, NO, I don’t have shares in Optoma or any store, I’ve just been looking for years to find a decent image from the Chinese ones but in vain. Don’t waste your money; with 375 euros I made a cinema in my living room in a few minutes. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
