Boswellia (Boswellia serrata) originates from India, North Africa, and the Middle East. It is a tree whose resin has been used for more than 5,000 years in Ayurveda for the treatment of various diseases due to its excellent therapeutic properties. The resin of Boswellia is known as "Indian frankincense", referred to in the East as "olibanum", and in the West as "frankincense". There are several species of Boswellia, but only four produce resin.
