    • Advancement mechanism: Operates by pressing the back of the pencil to advance new graphite. The top is a plastic disc matching the wood with a 0.5 or 0.3 mm indication, depending on the model.
    • Ring band: Rotating band in the center of the mechanism to change the hardness indication of the graphite: F, H, HB, or B.
    • Eraser: Small eraser revealed by pulling the mechanism, removable for access to the graphite refill chamber.
