    Viofo A229 Ultra 2ch Review
I have had the camera for a few days and I am sharing my first impressions for anyone interested, because before I bought it I couldn't find enough reviews.
The Viofo A229 Ultra 2ch has impressed me with the clarity of the image and the large number of settings it offers the user.
My car is a Nissan Qashqai 2025, with a very dark rear windshield, and yet the rear camera performs better than I expected.
I pay special attention to reading the license plates of other cars, because that's where dashcams are judged.
General image quality can be good on many cameras, but the real test is whether you can read license plates, especially at night and even more so when illuminated by strong LED lights.
That’s why this review focuses more on this point.

    Front camera
    • Day: Very clear image.
License plates are easily visible on at least three cars, right, left, and in front.
    • Night: Good quality without overexposure.
    • Night, on a road without lighting, at speeds over 125 km/h:
Despite the strong LED lights of my car, the license plate of the vehicle in front is very clearly readable.
The camera maintains proper exposure without "burning" the image.

    Rear camera
    • Day, at speed ~130 km/h: The license plates of the cars behind are clearly readable.
    • Night, city speeds: The license plate of the car behind is normally readable.
    • Night on a road without lighting, with a car behind and lights on while moving at speed: the license plate of the car behind is not recorded due to intense glare.
Nevertheless, the overall image remains useful and the rear camera's performance is better than I expected.
I have made absolutely no adjustments to the rear camera; in the future I will try and, if necessary, return with an updated impression.

    On-screen information
The camera displays everything the driver needs:
    • speed
    • GPS geotag
    • date and time
    • camera details
    • our vehicle’s license plate number
All this information is optional and appears only if we choose it. For example, we can disable the display of the license plate number if we do not want it recorded in the video.

    Installation
Care is needed when routing the cables so they don't rub or get stretched.
The package includes three transparent stickers that go between the windshield and the camera base, essential to avoid trouble if you want to remove it or to avoid damaging the film on the rear windshield (if your car has one), if you need to remove it.
One sticker was enough for both cameras.

    Polarizing lens (CPL)
The front CPL is included and reduces reflections very well. In my case, it made the image a bit darker and I had to increase the brightness by a whole EV unit to bring it to the level I wanted. Be careful when placing it, there is only one correct position, there are two lines that must be aligned.
    • For the rear camera, there is an optional CPL, but I did not install it because I have a very dark film. I do not know if it would help or not, so I preferred not to buy it. If I happen to try it in the future, I will return with an updated impression.
    Voice commands
English, Chinese, Russian, and Japanese are supported.
The basic commands, e.g. (“Save video”, “Take photo”, “Show rear camera”) work well as long as there is no other loud noise.
The app on the phone is also in Greek, so usage is very easy and fortunately, because the screen does not support Greek.

    BTR200 Remote Control (Optional)
It is really worth it, it performs the following functions:
    • Instant video lock (emergency save)
    • Microphone on/off
    • Programmable third button (Wi-Fi, photo, etc.)
It makes using the camera safer and more practical for everyday driving.

    My assessment.
The Viofo A229 Ultra 2ch is an excellent choice for those who want clear license plates and reliable recording in all conditions, as long as they can or want to spend the money it sells for. I bought it through Skroutz for 287 euros including shipping.
If anyone wants to ask something, I am happy to help in the questions section.

P.S. I don't understand why they haven't uploaded the photos on Skroutz for so many days.
