Traditional Japanese double-edged hand saw for wood cutting RYOBA
The RYOBA saw combines two specialized functions in one highly capable tool. It features blades with two types of teeth, different on each edge:
- Cutting side for cross-cutting wood fibers.
- Cutting side for cutting parallel to the wood fibers.
The parallel cutting side has triangular progressive teeth (7TPI - 11TPI) and the cross-cutting side features three-sided trapezoidal teeth (16 TPI). The absence of a spine makes the RYOBA suitable for deep cuts or splitting pieces.
This saw is used in woodworking and cuts on the pull stroke, in contrast to most European saws that cut on the push stroke. Pull cutting is more efficient and leaves a smaller kerf width of 0.70mm.
It includes a wooden handle and the blade is removable from the handle for easier transport. Replacement blades are available.
