Roland and his ka-tet – consisting of Eddie and Susannah Dean, Jake Chambers, and Oy the stuttering billy-bumbler – have completed their wanderings on the Path of the Beam, through the forests of Mid-World, in search of the Dark Tower. On their way, they find the quiet, small town of farmers and ranchers, Calla Bryn Sturgis, as well as a mysterious former priest, Donald Callahan – a man who crossed into Roland’s world many years ago… A man cursed by the Evil that destroyed the small town of Jerusalem’s Lot, in Maine.
Beyond this community, the land is dominated by the threatening darkness of Thunderclap, the source of a grim calamity that steals the souls of the town’s inhabitants. The Wolves of the Calla, with their horrific raids, appear once again. To resist them means risking everything, but Roland and his ka-tet are used to that. However, their guns will not be enough…
