This work compiles everything modern regarding the education required for providing first aid to athletes. In addition to specialized rescuers, event doctors, physiotherapists, fitness trainers, coaches, officials, fellow athletes, and even fans are also called upon to manage emergency situations in sports venues.
To effectively address these situations, it must comply with the rules mandated by international organizations, such as FIMS. Especially in professional sports, both acute and chronic health disorders "paradoxically" outweigh the beneficial adaptations brought about by systematic training.
However, the proper application of scientific and administrative guidelines, the presence of medical equipment in competition venues, the existence of a minimally equipped medical office, and the athlete's immediate accessibility to an organized medical center make the management of these disorders feasible.
The book starts with an introductory chapter that concerns the medical care of athletes in sports environments. It then explains first aid for musculoskeletal injuries, first aid for heart, respiratory, and digestive disorders, first aid for disturbances arising from extreme weather conditions or skin diseases, etc.
