The modeling figure depicts the Skyblazers demonstration team, which conducted its first flights in 1949 over Europe, at the Furstenfeldbruck airbase in Germany. The pilots belonged to the 22nd Fighter Squadron of the 36th Fighter Wing, within the USAFE (United States Air Forces in Europe). The team was ordered by USAFE's command to create an acrobatic flying team using F-80B aircraft and to perform demonstrations across Europe. Soon, the team was equipped with modified F-84E Thunderjet aircraft, from which the .50 caliber machine guns were removed for better maneuverability during shows. By the summer of 1952, the team had carried out over 260 air demonstrations in more than 12 countries.
