Description & Specifications

This brief edition aims to explore whether a Progressive, in a broad sense, External and European Policy (PEEP) can exist from and for the progressive forces. With what content, values, parameters, goals, positions. The edition is divided into two parts. The first presents the foundational bases, content, principles, values, and parameters upon which a progressive external and European policy can (and should) be built. The second part briefly analyzes the major issues of Greek and European politics and presents the positions and approaches of progressive policy.

In a period of deep geopolitical instability, upheavals, armed conflicts, questioning of international law, and the dominance of extreme conservative views from the USA (President D. Trump) to Europe (rise of the far-right), the formation of progressive policies in all sectors is more necessary than ever. Necessary for Greece to be able, as far as it depends on it, first, to resolve problems with neighboring countries, especially with Turkey, and second, to elevate its position in the rapidly changing European, regional, and international environment. Solving these problems is an obvious function for every political system. For external policy issues, especially Greek-Turkish relations, resolving them will have multiple beneficial consequences.

The author, utilizing extensive negotiating experience both in the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the EU, as well as his academic knowledge, offers specific ideas, proposals, and positions for both transforming Europe in a progressive direction and addressing the major issues of foreign policy (Greek-Turkish relations, etc.).
