The ASI183 camera is designed for astronomical applications, offering many features that set it apart. It is ZWO's most sensitive camera, with a maximum QE of 84% on the monochrome sensor.
Astrophotography Performance: It uses Sony IMX183CLK-J and IMX183CQJ-J back-illuminated sensors, providing high-resolution pixels of 2.4 μm. With a full well capacity of 15,000e and a low read noise of 1.6e, its performance in astrophotography is excellent.
High Speed: The camera supports high frame rates, making it ideal for imaging the solar and lunar systems, as well as for live viewing. Possible frame rates include:
- 10bit ADC: 5496×3672 (19fps), 3840×2160 (41.04fps), 1920×1080 (80.10fps), 1280×720 (117.30fps)
- 12bit ADC: 5496×3672 (19fps), 3840×2160 (36.12fps), 1920×1080 (70.48fps), 1280×720 (103.23fps)
Features: The ASI Pro cameras include 512 MB DDR3 memory for reliable data transfer, while the improved design ensures stable operation in humid environments. They also feature a 2-stage TEC cooling system to significantly reduce sensor noise.
Powered by 12V power supply, ZWO ASI cooled cameras are recommended to use a 12V@3A~5A DC adapter or a lithium battery with 11-14V. Black and white cameras offer higher sensitivity and resolution compared to color ones, although they require more effort to create colored images.
