The ASI715MC camera features the modern Sony IMX715 sensor, which supports the Starvis 2 technology (back-illuminated). It ensures exceptionally smooth images without glow enhancement, with very high 1.4 µm pixel resolution. This camera is suitable for high-resolution photography directly at the telescope’s focus without focal length extension.
The transparent glass filter protects the sensor from dust entry and allows the passage of ultraviolet and infrared radiation, enabling the use of the camera for infrared photography as well.
The comparatively small sensor, extremely low read noise, high sensitivity in the near-infrared spectrum, and high frame rate make this camera suitable for planetary photography. Although the ASI715MC is a non-cooled camera, the innovative integrated PCS dissipates heat from the sensor, reducing the sensor temperature by up to 15 degrees Celsius compared to other cameras without PCS.
The back-illuminated CMOS sensor offers significantly lower read noise and improved sensitivity. Also, the low noise and anti-glow circuits make the camera suitable for deep-sky imaging of small objects.
