Description

Following "Basic Principles of Maxillofacial Surgery I," this volume aims to provide fundamental principles in definitions of conditions, as well as in diagnoses and coarse management of general diseases of the salivary glands, skeletal disorders, which are treated within the scope of Orthognathic Surgery.

In the chapter on distraction osteogenesis, concepts and indications for its application are analyzed, along with the disadvantages and complications associated with it, factors that have reduced the frequency of performing distraction osteogenesis. Classic prosthodontic surgery still plays a role in the planning of prosthetic rehabilitation despite the increased use of implants.

The management of labio-maxillary-palatal clefts is a challenge for Maxillofacial Surgery and requires multidisciplinary collaboration. The material of this book is based on current literature, the oral teachings of Professor Konstantinos Vaktsevanos to students, as well as long-term clinical experience in treating patients at the University Clinic of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at G.N.Th. "G. Papanikolaou".

The photographs accompanying the text are either from cases handled by the authors, patients of the clinic, or bibliographic sources. Summaries presented at the beginning of each chapter, along with points of attention, help facilitate the retention of useful knowledge.

Konstantinos Vaktsevanos is a Professor at the University Clinic of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at AUTH. Konstantinos Paraskevouilos is an Assistant Professor at the School of Health Sciences, Department of Dentistry at AUTH.
