This classic work by the distinguished French philosopher Alfred Fouillée, awarded in 1874 by the French Academy (Académie Française), is one of the deepest and most insightful studies on the thought and teachings of Socrates.
Fouillée presents Socrates not only as a moral teacher but as the founder of the metaphysics of the Logos; the one who transformed philosophy from an investigation of phenomena into a quest for inner meaning and the Good.
The translation and introduction by Petros Vraila-Armenis, a scholar and diplomat of the 19th century, constitute a valuable testament to the continuity of Greek reflection.
This rendition in Modern Greek preserves the style and spirit of the original, making the work accessible to today's reader.
The Philosophy of Socrates is not merely a philosophical treatise; it is a spiritual journey towards knowledge and freedom, a timeless testimony of the union of mind and ethics.
An award-winning work that connects ancient wisdom with contemporary thought.
