The Southern Pacific board game focuses on the world of railroads in America after the Civil War. Players control various railways competing for dominance in Texas, coming from states such as Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma during the 1800s.
Players finance the railroads they control through share sales. The president of each railroad may auction shares, build new lines, acquire existing lines from other companies, or pay dividends. “Bull market” auctions at the end of each round can change the balance of power, putting the strategies of the presidents to the test. The game ends when a railroad has built all its lines or when all shares have been bought.
The winner is the player who accumulates the most money at the end of the game.
