It took 2 years to build, from July 1, 1887 to March 31, 1889, culminating with the placement of the flag at its top.

From the day of its inauguration, the Eiffel Tower proved to be a success, attracting 2 million visitors. The original lifespan of the Tower was estimated not to exceed 20 years. Remarkably, it has changed colors several times, in shades such as reddish-brown, yellow ochre, brown, and finally bronze. Every year, 25 painters are required to provide it with a complete paint job.
