  • This is a very entertaining book, which, if I could categorize it somewhere, would be in magical realism.

The story takes you from familiar Athens to the exotic Amazon, with a few intermediate and unexpected stops. The main character of the book, the parrot Botzo, even though he can only say a few words, manages to acquire such depth, as if you have read endless pages of his dialogues.

But this character also has something else, something very important: you immediately feel he is your friend and he makes you want to go with him for a tsipouro! Thus, he immediately becomes the connecting link, your companion as you read the book.

I highly recommend it for a pleasant read, which, however, hides beneath its surface deep problems of modern society (and of Greece in particular).

    Botzo! Botzo! Botzo!
