To germinate, it requires a minimum soil temperature of 18 °C. It enters dormancy at temperatures below 8-10 °C. It has excellent tolerance to drought and salinity. It can be sown on its own, but can also be a component in mixtures with other cool-season species. It spreads very rapidly with very thick stolons and rhizomes. It is suitable for private and public gardens, sports fields, roadside slopes, etc.
