Description

Description

The physical, mathematical, and genetic approach to phenomena and events occurring on Earth, visible and invisible to the naked eye, is reflected, captured, and condensed into poetic language, through sound, ultrasound, and the mysterious light emanating from all these, revealing to us the explosive expansion of our knowledge, as well as the inability to decrypt the surrounding and overlaying sphere of knowledge, "known ignorance": all those things we know we do not know.

Then, we delve into the observed phenomena in the vast universe, which emits its own mysterious messages through planetary, stellar, and cosmic poetry, the pinnacle of our Great Existential Ignorance about the "beyond," its birth, its limits (or lack thereof), and our shared ultimate journey into the Unknown.

Forever contemplating the indeterminate nature of things (de rerum natura), we turn to poetry as the only escape route from the unbearable ignorance of our being.

THE AUTHOR

CHRISTOS GOUTIS

Christos Goutis served as a Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Patras (1981-2014) and simultaneously, for eleven (11) consecutive years, as Director of the Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the National Observatory of Athens (2001-2012). He is also a poet (writing and publishing poetry since 1968) and the author of many scientific, political, sociological, philosophical, historical, and ancient studies.

He knows seven foreign languages (English, German, Spanish, Russian, French, Italian, and Portuguese). As an observational astronomer, he took part in many research missions at major observatories around the world. He returned to Greece in 1981 after being elected Professor at the University of Patras in June 1981, where he served until August 2014; additionally, from 2001 to 2012, after being elected for two consecutive terms, he was Director of the Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the National Observatory of Athens.
