The year is 793 and the coast of Northumbria is burning. The attack on Lindisfarne was only the first move - more raiders will follow. As the leaders of Wessex, Mercia, Northumbria, and East Anglia, you must prepare your kingdom for the coming storm. Strengthen your defenses and expand your kingdoms with new cities - but beware as the more you expand, the more you attract Vikings to your realm. Will you emerge as the strongest kingdom, ready to withstand the Viking attack, or will your lands fall to fire and steel? The fate of Anglo-Saxon England depends on you.
Norsewind is a tableau-building game. Each round, you choose a card and add it to your developing kingdom, that is, to your tableau. Place it wisely to earn rewards. Gather useful followers and upgrade your castles, because the Vikings are coming and they are not here to make friends! At the end of the game, you score each row in your tableau, but only if your defense is stronger than the Vikings' attack strength.
