A calibration slide with a scale is essential for improving measurement accuracy when using image analysis software on a computer. Its purpose is to determine the correction factor that the software will use for the selected objective lens.

Instructions for use:

  • Attach the calibration slide to the microscope's stage.
  • Rotate the nosepiece to select the objective lens.
  • Take a photograph of the scale (with the maximum possible resolution).
  • In your image analysis software, select “Calibration”. Use the computer mouse to indicate the maximum visible distance, then enter the real-world value.
  • Enter the name of the calibration and check the values.
  • If the procedure is done correctly, the software will save the correction factor in its memory and will adjust measurements accordingly.
