Terraforming Mars: The Dice Game is a board game that combines mechanisms based on cards and dice. Players use special dice to develop their corporations and transform Mars into a new home for humanity. The dice represent resources that players use to play cards and perform other actions.
During the game, players increase their dice production, raise terraforming markers, place city and greenery tiles on the board, and earn various rewards. Each round, the player either produces new dice (production round) or performs actions (action round). Each time a player raises one of the global parameters (i.e., increases the oxygen level, raises the temperature, or places ocean tiles), they earn two victory points.
Victory points can also be accumulated by placing tiles on the board and playing cards, as well as by winning awards and titles. The game ends when two out of three global parameters (oxygen level, temperature, number of oceans) reach their maximum levels. The winner is the player who earns the most victory points.
