The monologue concerns a recently convicted politician for financial scandals, who, a few months after his release from prison, organizes lectures in order to explain the reasons that led him to embezzle public funds. His arguments are based on the tolerance shown by citizens towards the arrogance and corruption of political figures, in order to satisfy their personal needs, regardless of the methods the politician will use to achieve them.
"In recent years, I have often heard angry people call for hanging some politicians. […] The ridiculous thing is that, in many cases, these very people were once voters of these politicians. None of them, of course, was aware of their own responsibilities, because no one ever attributes responsibility to the popular will. It is a silent agreement that the “wise” and “innocent” people enjoy an immunity like that of ministers. It is a vicious cycle where irresponsible governance creates an irresponsible society, which in turn elects irresponsible governance," the author states in his introductory note.
