When a humanoid dies in the Drift, overwhelmed by a powerful negative emotional state, they can turn into a driftdead, leaving behind their old body and forming a new incomplete body from the mixed layers of the Drift. A driftdead's body is inseparably bound to the Drift. If it ever leaves the Drift, its layered body remains in the Drift and the driftdead becomes formless until it returns there. A driftdead is bound to the Drift and cannot escape or reach the Boneyard for judgment. Its damaged mind is flooded with madness, rage, and hatred towards the living.
