Description

This study approaches the music industry as a distinctly dynamic and ever-changing field, transformed and redefined under the influence of technological advancements.

The structure is developed into three distinct parts. The first part focuses on the key changes experienced by the music sector as a result of technological progress, through a genealogical approach aimed at highlighting the timelessness of certain fundamental parameters: despite changes in media and dissemination methods, the needs of creators and the consistent will of consumers remain unchanged.

The second part, with a stronger academic orientation, examines music as a cultural asset and analyzes the consumption processes, focusing on the role of collective dynamics and the function of the “wisdom of the crowd” in shaping musical tastes.

The third part explores the new possibilities and prospects that are emerging for cultural organizations and music consumers in modern digital environments, where practices of “contactless art consumption” are emerging, utilizing technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and related innovations.

The study is a profound mapping of how music is produced, distributed, promoted, and ultimately experienced, in an era of ongoing technological and cultural transformations, as documented through Greek and international literature, research data—including studies from Panteion University (2012-2013)—as well as contributions from leading field theorists.

In conclusion, as Vassilikos notes in the preface of the study (Raining Pleasure), perhaps the greatest value of this edition is that it bridges two worlds: the world of numbers, data, and theories, and the world of feelings, stories, and small personal discoveries that build the relationship.
