Shilajit is a natural substance found mainly in mountainous regions such as the Himalayas. It is a black/brown substance believed to be formed over centuries through the gradual decomposition of microorganisms on plants and rocks.
It is found in the Himalayas between India and Nepal, although it has also been found in Russia, Tibet, Afghanistan, and now in the northern part of Chile, where it is called Andean Shilajit.
Shilajit is also known in the northern part of India as salajit, shilajatu, mimie, or mummiyo.
