First OLED monitor purchase and I understood the hype.

I bought it for €350 and I can say that it is quite a good image upgrade from a gaming IPS.

The first difference I noticed is that the colors are much more vivid than an IPS, more than I expected. Looking at an IPS now makes it look colorless, while the OLED makes the colors look like reality and the sky appears as blue on the screen as it does outside.

Another positive of an OLED is the blacks, as the pixels are turned off, making many scenes look like reality.

As other users have said, there is indeed an outline around white text or anything white, with a green outline on top and a purple one on the bottom, BUT if you sit at a normal distance from the screen (for example, an outstretched arm or a little less), there is no way this will bother you and you’ll forget this problem even exists. This happens because the panel type is QD-OLED and unfortunately this cannot be avoided, not even in more expensive models (unless you go 4K, where it still exists but the pixels are more, so the outline is smaller).

Another problem with QD-OLED is that in a room with a lot of light (say, a window with sunlight and no curtains), when the screen is off, the surface appears purple (as shown in a photo below) and this cannot be avoided and is unfortunately one of the negatives of QD-OLED.

This particular monitor comes with an Anti-Glare Matte surface on top, which has its pros and cons. For example, yes, if there’s light from behind or a window, there won’t be reflections from the screen, but in a white scene the screen will look somewhat dirty (most gaming IPS monitors have this surface).

The stand that comes with the monitor is VERY simple, it has no height adjustment and sits quite low, at least for me, and ONLY has tilt adjustment. I had to put it on a separate monitor arm.

The construction of the monitor is entirely plastic and relatively cheap, but don’t see this as a bad thing because it means most of the money went into the panel. Still, it looks quite modern up close.

A negative is that the monitor does not reach the brightness levels of more expensive OLEDs (without HDR) and this is one of the reasons it’s so cheap. At night or in a dark room it’s bright enough to be even annoying, BUT in a room with sunlight or lights it will seem weak. Still usable, but I wish it had a bit more brightness.

However, something it keeps from expensive OLEDs is the response time, which is so low that it’s almost instant compared to an IPS, which feels sluggish.

HDR, on the other hand, makes a big difference in brightness, making it much brighter and bringing the already amazing OLED colors even more to the forefront.

Of course, another classic OLED problem is their durability. They usually last 5-6 years (with care), which is quite good, but not as long as an IPS. There are systems to help with this, like Pixel Shift, which moves all the pixels a bit to avoid burning out specific ones. There’s also Pixel Refresh, which on this monitor takes about half an hour and "cleans" the pixels, helping their longevity. Because after years of use, the pixels burn out and lose brightness!

As I said, the refresh rate of the monitor is a bit lower at 180Hz, which personally is more than enough for a monitor, but yes, there is a difference between 180Hz and 240Hz if that matters to you.

OLED monitors are recommended more for those who intend to do Gaming and Media Consumption.

The OSD (On Screen Display) buttons are NOT a nipple, but 5 different buttons like on a TV remote, which for me was unfortunately a downgrade from my previous monitor, especially on such a screen where you need to use the OSD often for Pixel Refresh. There is also a power indicator light that is very faint, even in a dark room.

Overall, it’s a big upgrade from the IPS I had, but there are several points that make it seem like a budget OLED. Overall satisfied, and if you have a low budget and want to go OLED, it’s a good buy!

!!! Important update: update the monitor’s firmware for Display Port 1.4 !!! So you can run it at maximum performance of 1440p 180Hz and 10 Bit Color Depth!!!
I don’t know if in the future they’ll come updated, but mine didn’t. It’s quite easy, just via USB.

I hope this review helped you decide to buy this monitor. Yes, it’s cheap because there are some downgrades like brightness and refresh rate, but the positives make it worth the money!

Attention! First OLED monitor I’ve bought after seeing all the hype about how good they are in colors and response time, but after 3 days of comparing it with a similar 2k 165Hz Fast IPS monitor, I can say I prefer the IPS:

OLED Negatives:
- Due to its construction, anything white seems to have a green outline on the top and purple on the bottom. The higher the pixels-per-inch (resolution / size), the less noticeable this is, but in this case, since it’s only 1440p and not 4k, it’s quite visible and makes it unsuitable for reading white text.
- The colors are indeed more saturated, blacks are blacker and not gray, but this didn’t seem clearly better to me than the IPS, even though in all reviews they’ll say "oh yes, this looks washed out compared to OLED." I don’t know if it’s this particular monitor’s fault, but I wasn’t especially impressed by the colors, they were just darker and more saturated.

OLED Positives:
- HDR. Perhaps the only thing I found superior is gaming with HDR. I had the IPS right next to it playing the same image and indeed in games like Star Wars Battlefront, etc. there was a significant difference in how many details you could see in the very bright and very dark parts of the image.
- Movies/Series. Also, watching a series/movie on both monitors I can see why the experience is better with OLED, but not so much better that you’d buy such an overpriced monitor just for that.

My conclusion: If these are the only positives and due to the poor text clarity it’s unusable for anything else, it’s better for OLED technology to remain only in TVs. Don’t buy it unless the only thing you want to do is watch series/movies or game from a distance, e.g. consoles.
