The Askar SQA55 telescope is a 5-element Petzval refractor with an SD lens and an ED lens. Its adjustable aperture ranges from f/4.8 to f/22, making it suitable for nighttime astrophotography and daytime photography. It can also be used as a manual-focus camera lens.

The Petzval design eliminates the need to calculate back focus, while the 50–60 mm adapter lets you start imaging once the optical tube is focused. The focuser offers dual-speed adjustment, with separate fine and coarse focus controls. An optional autofocus kit is supported and is compatible with the ZWO EAF electronic focuser and other models.
