It is 2005, and Ali is a journalist for the biggest Hollywood stars. A significant part of her job is to keep gay celebrities in the closet — which is quite ironic, since she herself is a lesbian. When Ali is assigned to a new client, Kara Bisset, an up-and-coming star of a (heterosexual) romantic film, her challenge becomes maintaining Kara's secrecy about her sexuality.

The daring and unpredictable Kara hates the fact that she has to hide such an intimate aspect of her identity, and after a series of increasingly close encounters, Ali is sent on a worldwide promotional tour to manage her image. Conversely, she finds herself attracted to Kara’s confidence and courage. For the past year, Ali has been overwhelmed by grief after the sudden loss of her partner.
