The legendary No. 8 race car is recreated in outstanding detail on the agile, stable TT-02 chassis (shaft-driven 4WD). The kit includes a Type 540 motor and an electronic speed controller (ESC).

PLEASE NOTE: This product is supplied as a kit!

  • Assembly of the parts and painting of the polycarbonate (Lexan) body are required.

  • Included in the package: Drive motor (Type 540) & electronic speed controller (ESC).

  • Not included and required for operation:

    1. Steering servo

    2. 2-channel remote control & receiver

    3. Rechargeable battery pack

    4. Battery charger

    5. AA batteries for the remote control transmitter

Legendary Recreation of the 1991 DTM Race

This racing car competed in the 1991 German Touring Car Championship (DTM), playing a key role in Mercedes-Benz winning the manufacturers’ and teams’ titles that year. 

Tamiya’s radio-controlled model faithfully recreates the number 8 race car, featuring a polycarbonate body that accurately captures its modified four-door sedan profile, front lip spoiler and overfenders. For an even more realistic look, the three-pointed star emblem on the hood and the front grille are separate, plated parts.

TT-02 Chassis: Adjustable & Balanced 4WD

The TT-02 chassis features shaft-driven 4WD and a longitudinal layout—with the battery on the left and the motor on the right—for excellent road stability.

  • Easy Assembly & Maintenance: Features identical left and right suspension arms and uprights, as well as easy-to-maintain differentials.

  • Versatility: Offers a choice of 2 different wheelbases, 2 ground clearance settings and 2 track width settings, and supports 10 different gear ratios.

  • Realistic Details: Includes disc-brake-style wheel hubs, stylish bumper mounts and silver dish-style wheels with semi-pneumatic slick tires.
