Description

The Society of Free Humans is the second and final part of an epic story that began with the book The Return (24grammata editions, 2021).

Ten years have passed since the tragic battle in New Athens, in March 2105, when the Federation forces crushed the resistance of the Free People and the Terranians made their majestic appearance in the blue Athenian sky. Florence, Frank, Hnīm, Hilal, Mellissa, Santa, and Fubar now live in the Terranian city of Azar Tar, where safety, empathy, and companionship prevail.

Although they have established families and new relationships, they sometimes patrol with the "Body" — their resistance group — in Him Him Ter, the earthly metropolis of Andal Ter, known as the colony of Ater Suan, to maintain order there. However, the past refuses to leave them. They struggle with unhealed wounds and guilt, as well as with nightmares of a different life, more brutal, suppressed into oblivion.

They cannot free themselves from the pathologies of their old lives, feeling like strangers in a foreign world.

Their utopia will be disturbed after the unexpected murders of the Sophist Leonard Tanner — Florence’s partner — and their close friend Vic. Meanwhile, Frank, the Judge, faces a mysterious enemy but also his dark self, on an asteroid.

The rusty Earthly mentalities, the addiction to power, and the polarized behavior of those dreaming of the triumphant return of the terrible past threaten an entire colony. The consequences will be so catastrophic and revealing that they will redefine and revise human history, while the true connection of people with themselves, nature, and the universe will be reexamined and demystified by unbearable truths.
