The new Judicial Organization Code and Judicial Officers Status Code was enacted by Law 4938/2022 and is effective from June 6, 2022.

The new Code replaced the previous one which was enacted by Law 1756/1988 and had undergone numerous amendments in recent years.

According to the explanatory report of Law 4938/2022, the purpose of the new Code is modernization, harmonization of provisions with European and international developments in the organization of Justice, and elimination of dysfunctions identified during the long period of application of the current legislative framework.

This edition is updated up to Law 5221/2025 (Government Gazette A’ 133/28.7.2025).
