Gwyn Jones is absolutely satisfied with her life in Graves Glen. She, her mother, and her cousin have formed a new, powerful coven of witches. Gwyn runs "Something Magical," a successful magic shop, and also teaches some of the town's younger witches.

As Halloween approaches, there is only one problem – Llewellyn "Wells" Penhallow. Wells has come to Graves Glen to restore his family's connection to the town his ancestors founded and to start a new life after years of living as an obedient son in Wales. When he opens his own shop, "Penhallow's Magical Goods," directly across from "Something Magical," he soon realizes it was not a good idea to go up against Gwyn.

Their professional rivalry leads to a very personal – and very passionate – kiss, and the two decide to stay away from each other, convinced that the kiss was caused by some magical spell.

But when a mysterious group of wizards arrives in town and Gwyn's magical powers begin to weaken, she and Wells are forced to work together to discover exactly what these new wizards want and to restore Gwyn's powers before it's too late.
