Description

The product is available in thin flakes of gomalacca, which seal the pores of the surface you wish to gild. Once thoroughly dried, it can be mixed with a bonding solution to adhere the gold leaf. Historically, it was also used as a final varnish for iconography.

Usage Method:

  • Soak the gomalacca flakes in pure alcohol above 95 degrees.
  • After 24 hours, the gomalacca will have fully dissolved.
  • Strain the mixture to remove any deposits and impurities.
  • The gomalacca is ready for use.

The gomalacca and alcohol solution can be stored for several months in a tightly sealed container. It is recommended to filter before each new use, with a ratio of 250g of gomalacca in 1 liter of alcohol (100g in 400ml of alcohol).

Storage:

  • Store in a cool, dry place in its own container, sealed and away from direct light and heat.
  • The ideal temperature is 15-20°C with humidity below 50%.
  • It is not sensitive to cold but can be damaged by heat.

Additional Information: The dilution ratio, application method, and quantities used can significantly affect the working time. The most suitable application methods should be determined through experimentation and based on the surface being gilded and the desired effect.
