In 1963, the government of the Right collapsed spectacularly in the aftermath of the assassination of Grigoris Lambrakis. Konstantinos Karamanlis, undisputed leader of the conservative faction, withdrew from politics and left for permanent exile abroad. This was a turning point when Greece's political confrontation entered a critical phase: who would govern the country;
On one side, a militant democratic movement envisioned a Greece freed once and for all from the shadows of Civil War. On the other, the Palace, the Army, and remnants of the Right, backed by American support, insisted on considering themselves the legitimate owners of the country.
The electoral victory of the Center Union, the coup, and the July uprising, the descent into dictatorship: The story of this period is filled with hopes and disappointments, acquiescence and betrayals, conspiracies and dirty media propaganda. But also judges who are unafraid, workers protesting for dignity, and Lambrakis supporters singing while facing the deep state directly.
